As a recitalist and orchestral player, Erin Brophey shares the joy of music-making with audiences across Canada. Currently Principal Oboe (on sabbatical) of the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra, she previously held the position of section oboe and English horn with the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra for eight seasons. Freelance work has led her to work with several other Canadian orchestras, including the Kitchener-Waterloo, Winnipeg & Toronto Symphony Orchestras; Symphony Nova Scotia; the Regina & Windsor Symphony Orchestras, and the Charlottetown & Elora Festival Orchestras.
As a performer, Erin is interested in the intersection of art forms, and also in offering meaningful cultural experiences to audiences. As an educator, not only is she a sessional lecturer at the University of Saskatchewan, but she also directs community musical initiatives throughout Canada - in addition to running her own education programmes.
