Action from Nick & Huw in June 2024!
Renowned musicians Nicholas Daniel & Huw Watkins have just performed two celebrity lunchtime recitals in a short tour of Yorkshire and Cumbria on the 3rd & 4th of June!
The New Chevalier Sonata opened their programme: my reworked version of Bologne's unpublished Sonata for Harp with obbligato Flute, possibly composed for harpist Queen Marie Antoinette. Monday 03 June at 1300: The Wesley Centre, Harrogate Tuesday 04 June at 1230: Ulverston Parish Church, Ulverston

THE DOOR OF NO RETURN (2020-2021) & NEW CHEVALIER SONATA (c.1779/2022) are multi-instrumental sonatas, linked by their different perspectives on Black history.
Kathleen Carter Bell and Sarah Rushing's moving & virtuosic interpretation of The Door can be seen in the narrative video, above, which depicts the programme behind the piece. "Thank you both SO much for the wonderful energy behind this creation. I loved the whole thing, and the music and the images made a strong impression on me. I had to read quick and will watch and listen to it again and read more of the information. The sea is such a powerful metaphor with the breathed phrases, and not just pretty sea pictures, I know the double edged imagery is tinged also with grief and sadness. Interestingly I don’t hear anger. The gorgeous happy faces of the children and the women dancing is also an abiding memory.
Thank you both for the artistic friendship and collaboration across the sea.Also, going off to practise my B Major scales now..."
