Consortium Information

Greetings!

I am delighted to announce that I have been working on some new music for everyone, and that I have now reached consortium-formation stage!

The two new pieces are the original work Fantasia - La Folia (2023) for solo woodwind instrument (duration: 7 mins); and Three Country Dances (1779/2023) by the ex-slave British composer & abolitionist Ignatius Sancho (1729-1780), transcribed for high/low woodwind duet. Dur. 3-4 mins.
Please click on the score images, or go to the Menu, to visit the Feature Page for each piece, for further information, images and videos.

This consortium is designed to cover expenses associated with composing Fantasia - La Folia and attending a live performance in the USA in 2024:  and the transcription fee. I am delighted to include, as a bonus gift for both Senior & Co-commissioners, my new transcription of three country dances by Ignatius Sancho!  The Eb arrangement for Alto & Bari Saxes is finished, and received its world debut performance in June, less than one mile away from the site of Sancho's Greenwich Park home (Montagu House), in London.  The video of this performance - delightfully performed by two Trinity Laban Conservatoire students - can be viewed on the Feature Page.  However, I have yet to create the C & Bb scores: and I want to provide mix-and-match parts, so that any combination of instruments can play the piece.  They are beautiful dances (one reel, one courtly dance and one jig) - and the back story behind their composition is quite remarkable.

Fantasia - La Folia, is a companion piece to Fantasia Dodecaphonica: but this new work finds its inspiration in Marin Marais' famous Les Folies d'Espagne.  Feature Page
